Because you can’t decide how to travel if you don’t know where you’re going …
For some of us clarity, confidence and consistency come easily – in work and in life.
(Read on for some tips from my professional coaching for expat women!)
We understand that:
Building relationships in business is not the same as networking
Collaboration beats competition
Decision-making in professional life cannot be separated from emotions – as much as we are told they should be
A mindset that is adaptable and incorporates emotional intelligence is critical to success
Success can be described in as many ways as there are people
We know that a successful life includes the time and space that allows us to:
Find people that that give us hope and hold up a mirror to our best selves
Build relationships with people who’ll join us in our best life
Care for our bodies and minds – investing in our wellbeing now and for tomorrow
We know that a successful life includes the time and space that allows us to:

In short, we know what matters to us and can see what needs to happen to bring it to life.
When we feel successful, we usually have:
Clarity that allows you to make the critical decisions about career/life and their future
Confidence to believe in your capacity to do the things that will make these decisions come alive
Consistency to follow through on what you decide to do
But … if you’re thinking that this is what you’d love to be able to say about yourself yet feel like you’re not quite there, it may be helpful to start with this brief reflection:
Find a comfortable quiet space, grab a notebook and pen (not your phone – put it down).
Sit down, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Give yourself at least 5 minutes to really settle into a calm quiet state.
Imagine its 2030 – zoom out and take yourself through an ideal day in your ideal life – there is nothing to limit you – this can be as big and colourful as you want. Give yourself at least 10 minutes to really see the detail and feel like you’re there.
As you imagine this ask yourself these questions:
Where are you living?
What are you looking at?
Who is with you?
How does your day start?
What are you doing at work?
What are the things you do outside of work that nourish and sustain you?
What's giving you joy?
What are some of the challenges you are facing?
What skills/capabilities do you have to meet those challenges?
Where did these skills/capabilities come from?
As you imagine all this this what are you feeling? Hopeful? Excited? Unclear? Curious? Anxious?
There are no right or wrong answers – the point is to spend time to really immerse yourself in envisioning your future self.
Why?
Because you can’t make decisions about how to travel if you don’t know where you’re going
If you find yourself intrigued by this process you may want to think about professional coaching … 😊
