Because ‘C-suite coaching’ or ‘executive coaching’ or ‘leadership coaching’ can reinforce the ‘working and wanting’ approach to getting ahead …
… and it can keep us striving to be the ‘girl boss’ stereotype that leaves most of us overworked, underwhelmed and exhausted.
From my perspective as a professional coach for expat women, I believe that, for most women, this version of success doesn’t fit.
For most of us professional and personal leadership includes having time and space that allows us to:
Find ‘our’ people – the ones that that give us hope and hold up a mirror to our best selves
Build relationships and families with people who’ll join us in our best life
Care for our bodies and minds – investing in our wellbeing now and for tomorrow
Wander and wonder - exploring the world around and within us
In our best lifves we limit our exposure to:
People who drain our energy
Possessions that take up space without real purpose
Motion without meaning
When life is working well we can stay present with the ups and downs of each day because we know that this day is part of the bigger story. This is where coaching can help.
There’s a lot of noise about coaching – promises of success, freedom and riches all while having an Insta-perfect look …. promises that you can have it all. I call BS on this …
Coaching is just conversation…
Where you experience someone listening deeply to you (very rare for most of us)
Where there’s no expectation of reciprocity (it’s all about you)
Where you can share those things that run in your head (when you’re awake at 3am)
Where you can talk about your bold dream (with someone who won’t laugh or criticise)
Where you plan the journey to get there (and try things that get you moving towards it)
Where you experience compassionate accountability for your choices and actions towards the things that matter to you.
That’s all.
Where will coaching take you?
Coaching conversations will help you to:
Get free from the exhaustion of striving
Remember what you like about you
Identify your ‘hell yes!’ things
Decide which things are a hard no.
Be present for everything that is today
